Default will changing timing assembly cause oil pressure loss?

i am changing the water pump and have decided to just go ahead and drop the oil pan and remove the timing cover and fix the leaks with new gaskets since ive already got it disassembled. I figured i would replace the timing chains assembly and cam shaft sensor since the cover will be off anyways. A guy at a local euro import shop said i would lose oil pressure by changing the timing assembly. Is this correct???? this doesnt make any sense to me

That doesn't make any sense. Can't even fathom what he is getting at.

Probably referring to the fact you will have to re-prime the oil pump since it will drain out as it is located in the timing cover.

You will find it more affordable to change the oil pump gears, cover gasket, WP gasket, and sel (about $115), and a timing chain. The CPS is a pricey thing, hall effect sensor, don't fix it if it a'int broke. Agree on prime pump.

You dont really need to prime it. But if you makes you feel safer about the whole job. Remove the fuel pump fuse = no fuel no fire = no starty! Then turn the key for 10 seconds. You just primed your oil pump gears. Not too long or you will run down the battery. I did this when I did this job last fall. Also packed the gears with Vasoline or assemble lube which ever is easy to get. Also I used the Permatex gasket helper red tack stuff that comes in a bottle. It holds your timing cover gasket to the cover while you line it up. A life saver.
All that crap leaks again..... like less than 2 weeks later. I was careful and meticulous. What can I say its a Land Rover, if you cant stand it leaking better sell it. Hope you have a gravel driveway!
