need some help with this bell housing
While looking at the oil pan for a small leak I have, I notice some sort of large rubber plug half poped out of where it is supposed to be:

I can't find this plug in the rave? There appears to be one on the other side as well. What is it? Whatever it is it's open in a way that would allow water to flow right into my bell housing!!!
Fearing I had a rusty pool inside I opened up the inspection port and it's didn't look good to start:

But once removed there was no more fluid and it looks like this inside:

Is this what would be expected?
Here you can see the light coming through where the plug should be. The one I removed is so mangled it'll not go back in and I need to find a replacement. Any idea on a name? Thanks!

That plug conceals access to the four bolts holding the torque convertor to the flex plate. I don't know what Rover calls it specifically but if you call the dealer or any reputable Rover parts supplier and tell them where it is I'm sure they'll have a replacement for a few dollars.
