Smittybilt HDS-6 Defender Roof Rack Rain Gutter Clamps Short Brackets. Of course, the angled part has to be replaced or modified. Is anyone using them?

 

They are about 10 inches short

 

My question is, if I remove that angled part (bolted to the actual gutter mount), will it fit on the D2 rain gutter?

 

That will fit no problem almost all rain gutters are basically the same size, the only thing I would worry about is the angled bit, that is unusual and looks way too sharp.

Thanks, I didn't know that vendor. Great stuff, but their gutter mounts are pretty expensive though. I was looking for a cheaper option than those Surco mounts ($236 a set of four) and I need a set of six (Smittybilts are $155 for 6).

 

Thule makes a set that fits as does Yakima. But I feel your pain 1 set are 500.00 CDN, I got two complete rails used for 400, and used 1 inch square steel tube for the 3rd support on my RTT.

Guys have modded Van gutter mounts successfully this sort of thing

 

Rhino Rack makes some nice gutter mounts for around $139 for 2ea. They have nice load bars and/or platforms as well.
