Default Window regulator issue....need advise

So the whack a mole on the rover continues. My passenger door window regulator is done( found plastic wheel pieces in the door) . Anyway I ordered the regulator but cant get the window down to release it from the regulator . It comes down about 2 inches before binding . Do I need to loosen the regulator bolts to unbind it enough to get the window down and fold up the regulator so I can remove it?

Yes, remove the bolts and see if that gets you close enough. If not, get a Dremel and a cutoff wheel and start cutting. The regulator arms not the door, that is.

When I had the same problem I found guiding the window with my hand while rolling it down would get it to where it would come down. In my case, pressing out and holding the front of the window up slightly would allow it to come down. If you can get it down swapping the regulator is fairly simple. Good luck!

Where did you order the regulator?

Didn't someone on here do a 3D printer part?? I can't seem to find that post now. Or if 3d printer specs are around, I know a guy who might be willing to make some

I kind of remember that too, but I think it was for the gear inside the motor assembly. Regarding the regulator, it's hard to beat $33 from Lucky8. I have replaced both front units and they are working great.

I tried the 3-D rollers but it wasn't successful. We tried two different glues/cements but on both attempts the rollers came apart after a short period of use. I eventually ordered a new regulator from L8 instead.

The 3-D rollers were a great idea and are executed very nicely. Others have reported success; perhaps they used different stickum.

The forum member who came up with the idea was Lowest Bidder. His last post here was in August 2018 so he's still around but posts infrequently.

The rollers can be ordered directly from Shapeways here. You can see Lowest Bidder's posts on the topic by searching for posts by him with the keyword "Shapeways" or "roller." And in this thread he offers to send the file for you to print them himself. In that thread he also says to use acetone to "glue" the two halves together (I wish I'd seen that post months ago!). Lowest Bidder is not that thread starter for any of the threads discussing the rollers.

And to Red 5's point, it was Alex_M who talked about trying to repair the motor assembly when the gear assembly hub "tears." My truck also had that problem. You can see the discussion here.

Shapeways work fine, no need to glue, just use some safety wire. They are made so they won't come apart once you wire them.

Explain, please. How do you use it with these rollers? Pics?

Look here: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...s-today-78550/ As a final step, put safety wire around the hub of the new roller so it can't come apart.
