So, rolled down my driver side window this afternoon and heard a clunk when it got toward the bottom. The motor never stopped, but the window was fully down. Tried rolling it up and nothing. I can hear the motor running, but it sounds like it's just spinning. I'm guessing something broke on the bracket the holds the window? I've got the door apart, but haven't pulled anything out yet. I'm figuring if I need something new, I don't want to pull the parts out and not be able to hold the window up. Is it the regulator that holds the window? I know I've heard of these things breaking pretty easy, but since I've never dealt with it before, I haven't had to research it. Tried a search on here, but wasn't quite sure what to search for. Any help would be great.

Also, where is the best deal on replacement parts?

im guessing here but if you remove the motor from the regulator your should be able to raise the window then. my guess is that the gear in the motor/regulator broke/stripped. once the motor is out put 12vt to it to see if it will run

You will have to take off the door panel to see whats going on it could be a few different things. Taking the door panel off is easy just follow the RAVE steps. You might want to have a few spare clips on hand but if your window is stuck down I would wait since you will probably ordering parts to fix the window too.

Spare clips: Door Panel Stud (MWC9134 Same Fit As Part # MWC9134 ) - Land Rover interior panels/seats from Atlantic British

I was able to get the door panel off pretty easy... didn't break any clips either.

I guess I just need to get the regulator ordered and sent pronto since we're going to have chances of rain here. Hopefully, it's just the regulator and not the motor. Guess I'll start there and hope for the best.

Found some regulators on Amazon and some other online parts places. Is there a place or brand that I should stay away from? Amazon has one for $55 and Auto Parts Warehouse has one for $58. That's a little better than AB for $100 and RovahFarm for $70!

do you know if it is the motor or the regulator? have you taken the motor off the regulator to see if it will go up and down?

I'm not sure if it's one or the other. That's why I was looking for advice on here. I took the panel off of the door. I can manually push the window up and down. When I try the power window, the motor is turning/working, but there is no movement of the regulator. From what I could see of the regulator, all of the teeth appear to be there, but, again I haven't taken it out of the door. I will probably remove the mechanism this evening.

I just ordered a new regulator from Lucky8 and, it will ship out today. They had the best price I could find... $40. Hopefully, I don't have to buy a new motor as they are a little more expensive.

I agree, like my old man who worked as a mechanic always said: "Don't be a parts changer."

I would first try to run the window up with the panel off and just see what happens. Does the motor turn? If so is it free wheeling or does it bog down. If it is freewheeling pull if out and see what condition the splines are in, they might be stripped out and no longer meshing.

I would also look over the regulator anyway. In D2s they are solid linkages not cables like other vehicles. I would make sure these are not binding up and causing other problems. (Like stripped motor gears.)

EDIT: I didn't see your last post. Thats not a bad price. It will be good to have the parts if you need them, and you should be able to return or sell the regulator if you don't use it anyway.

It sounds exactly like a problem I had. It was a stripped gear on the motor.

Well, if it's not the regulator, I'll just hang on to it as a spare. If it's the motor, I guess I'll start shopping around for one of those. I'll know more this evening or tomorrow. I believe I saw motors ranging from $150 to more than $200. Just don't remember where I saw the prices.
