Default Window stop

What is the mechanism that should stop the window at the bottom? In other words, when I press the window down button it will go down until the regulator hits the bottom of the door.

Also, when I remove it from the door, I the motor will operate in a range of motion that exceed the teeth on the gear. I imagine normally, hitting the top of the door frame stops it before that happens. On te lowering side, it looks like maybe there should a stop or something where the green circle is? Does that make sense?

Default Solution?

I think the issue is that the main pivot of the regulator is loose. It seems like instead of bottoming out, the pivot allows the gears to move away so that stop is not hit. Short of pounding the pivot to tighten the junction, I think I need to replace the unit.

The teeth on all the gears and regulator are intact.

Copy/paste doesn’t work for me on this site. I have a thread here on my solution. I put a piece of pool noodle at the bottom of my drivers door. This stops the window before it opens past the track. It’s worked great for a couple of years now.

I pounded that rivet to take out most, if not all the play and it still does not stop at the bottom. It looks to me like all my teeth are in good shape, one possibility was that the teeth were worn down allowing it to keep turning.

I will try the pool noodle tip, but i would prefer to actually fix it. It seems like it should be a simple fix.

Have you looked at the other door to see what it is like?

In my case the other 3 doors have never had an issue.

I have replaced many regulators, this is the first time I have had this issue. Mostly the motor gets water in it and they rust up. I put the bolt and washer fix in, its not exactly perfect, but a good temp solution until I can get a new regulator.
