Default Window travel

Does anyone know how to adjust the down limit on the power windows? My front passenger window goes way to far down and will get stuck unless I manually stop the motion or I press the button to long and it will travel to far down. If it travels to far I have to pull the panel and work with it manually to get the window to start going up. Thanks

I don't believe there is an adjustment like what you are talking about. You probably have a broken regulator.

Nope. Its currently happening to me to. My window goes down and once it hits the down limits, it'd sounds like it still wants to go but the limit has been reached.

That's not the same at all. You likely have a wiring or BCU issue. When the BCU senses a current increase (because the regulator has stalled) it is supposed to turn off power to the window switch until it is released. Yours is not doing that.

The OP's issue definitely sounds like a broken regulator. The stop is probably busted off of the end, or something is bent up in there allowing too much travel. No way to tell without pulling off the door card and having a look. There is no other alternative, regardless of what is actually wrong.

I thought I had a broken regulator because mine was doing the same thing.
Once I pulled the assembly out I found that the motor mounting bolts were loose when I was switching it over to the new regulator.
I installed the new regulator anyway and all is well but I can find nothing wrong with the old one.
So I think it was the loose bolts all along letting the drive gear run off the rack gear.

Sorry for the partial threadjack but darylj, the sound im talking about is a loud knocking noise when its all the.way down. I know about the bcu detecting the window stall current. Any way to test the regulator or the bcu?

Then I retract my previous guess.

Now I have to say your regulator is junk too, but for a different reason. You have a cracked plastic gear on the motor, or ground down teeth on the other side towards the bottom. Rather than having enough gripping force to stall the motor enough to let the BCU know to stop, it's just slipping and making the clunking noise.

Again....you can't get any closer to a real diagnosis or fix without pulling the door card and looking in there. Chances are excellent that doing so and then operating the window will make the exact problem very evident.
