Window Trouble - BCM All or Nothing?
So, I'm replacing my Front Driver's side Window Regulator and motor (2003 D2), and ran into an issue... The regulator itself was pretty shot to hell, and I had assumed I burnt the motor out forcing it up and down after the regulator failed, as the window just stopped working all together. But, when I connected the new motor to test it before install, still nothing. I tried swapping the switch with one I know to be working, and still nada. There's a clicking (almost like a relay kind of sound) coming from behind the radio (possible behind the glove box.. hard to tell) when I activate the switch, which I assume is the BCM. Any ideas? Do these motors need to be under load to work? It's a Britt Part from Lucky 8. All other windows and door functions work fine, so I'm thinking the BCM/BCU end of things is fine... but IDK.. Would only 1 window be affected by a faulty BCM? It seems they're all pinned out together (electrically).
It is common for the wiring in the door jamb to fail with age(open and close the door a few hundred thousand times, and fatigue takes over) If you can verify voltage at the motor, then its not that. If the motor has no voltage, start working your way backwards...
Thanks man. I couldn't get the probe from my multimeter in the connector's slot (at the motor), so I'm going to see if I can separate the wire enough from the others to get a reading from a current tester (pen style). If not, I'll have to do it the hard way.
Am I right in ruling out the BCM though, it being the only window effected?
