i have a 99 d2 that i just bought and the front windows do not work from the front console switches. the back windows work from the front console switches only, they do not work from the rear door handle. i thought about changing out the front window switches for some new ones and see if that clears up any of the issues. i hear the relay making noise under the dash so i would assume that they are working at that there is power up to this point... any ideas???

 

You need to use your multi-tester and see if you have voltage inside the doors at the window motor electrical plugs where they plug into the wiring harness. If you have voltage at the appropriate pins of the plug when you activate the switch, then you have a motor problem, otherwise, you have an electrical problem leading up to the motor. It is actually very simple diagnostics.

 

thank you for the response, i was going to try a set a switches i found last night in the garage. its amazing what you find in storage boxes, and if that doesn't work then i am going to go the ohm route. for some reason i think it is the switch and i am happpy that i dont have to buy them at $11.95 a piece from the dealer. i will post my results when i get finished.
