Wiper help for Disco II?
Hi folks- can anyone recommend a set of new wiper blades that will fit my '00 Disco II? I have heard good things about the Bosch Icon series but also silblades- but i'm not sure they are compatible with my year model w/o making modifications to the arms. I'm not very mechanical & it'll be my first winter full-time in the mountains so I'm looking for something that will excel in 'extreme' conditions. I was told at my local auto parts store that the bosch icons (422a & b) would not fit.... any feedback or advice for something I can pick up that will be good for winter but not require major adjustments?
Many thanks in advance!

You only have Sill Blades or factory blades to pick from unless you replace those old tired D2 arms out for a new set of D1 arms that offer a lot more glass pressure and then you can install the new Bosch blades.
Thanks, Mike. Do you have any feedback on the Silblades? I noticed you're in Denver- I'm up in Routt county & this weekend's dump made me realize I probably should have wrapped this up in October. I've had folks recommend swapping out for the DI blades- is this something that is spendy? Could I do it myself? I'd prefer to keep my investment small, but if it's a modification that will pay off in spades I might be able to be talked into it.
Thanks again,
emily

Ok- sounds like swapping out the arms might be worth looking into. Any suggestions as to where I can get a good deal on a new pair of D1 arms- or used, if they'd be significantly more economical & about as good as a new pair?
Thanks again for all the feedback.
Thanks again for all the feedback.
Got my D1 wipers at Rovers North on sale , don't forget the bolt caps.
Prior to that I removed the plastic clip on the OE arm and ran a bolt thru the middle with nylock nuts, it became hard to find replacements with a skinny profile to fit into the arm, and then you had to ream out the center hole on some brands.
So.. I gave up on that mickey mouse !#$% and bought the D1 arms

It is a night and day difference...then just get a 19" blade for the driver's side, and an 18" for the passenger side and you're set. The swap will take you all of 15 minutes, and you'll be glad you did.
