Wiper blades are only supposed to last 6 months or so, you are supposed to replace them every 6 months or the first sign of streaking.
Of course nobody does this, including me.
Rubber blades will not last long in hot weather, silicone blades will not work as well as rubber ones in the cold but they last longer.
Most of your high end blades are a combo of rubber and silicone.
Consumer Reports had a article on wiper blades last fall, I never knew there was so much to wiper blades.
And according to CR, the $5 blades worked just as well as the $30 ones.
