Default Wire assm 7-4 pin apadter trailer towing

I found this part at Rovers North. "wire assm 7-4 pin apadter (their spelling) trailer towing"
WIRE ASSM 7-4 PIN APADTER TRAILER TOWING
I called but there was no one there.
WIRE ASSM 7-4 PIN APADTER TRAILER TOWING
I have the trailer plug down at the hitch. I could plug this part in and I am assuming I am ready to go? Are there electronics in this harness or can I just go in behind the plug and splice into the wires that lead to the plastic housing? With solder and heat shrink, of course. Thanks!

There is no need for a LR specific one...you might be able to get one locally at wal-mart or more likely at a place that sells trailers/hitches.

Or order one that is cheaper than that over priced one on roversnorth

Just a quick search...look around:

7-Way Round Pin to 4-Flat Adapter Tow Ready Wiring 118709

Make sure you get a 7-way ROUND pin to 4-flat. NOT 7-way FLAT pin...

Default Reading the Etrailer questions

I don't think that adapter will work. I was reading the question section below the link you have and i found the following. Unless I am reading it wrong:

Question:
Does the 7 pin round mean that it fits a 12N type European trailer plug?

No. The 7-Way end in the # 118709 adapter is made for the North American style of 7-Way round pins. A European 7-Way, see picture, has separate turn signals and brake lights and a circuit for fog lamps. The tail lights are also separate.

You would need to fabricate a special adapter to get the 2 to work together. I would need to know which end has the European 7-Way, the vehicle or the trailer. It would also require a semi-permanent change to the connector on the vehicle or possibly the trailer too.

This further confuses me:
Recommendation for Converting a Euro Style 7-Way to a Standard 7-Way | etrailer.com
Do I need one of those converters that join the turn signals with the brake circuit? Will that work with the Rover's electronics?

Aaaah, good catch, sorry for the miss information...damn European design!

I would give Rover North another call, it says they have the adapter in stock.

Im finding conflicting information on the splice route...let me search some more.

this might help, and I might just confuse you more

Splice Route:

Is there a European 7-Way to US 4-Way Trailer Wiring Adapter for a BMW | etrailer.com

You will need this ($40) to make it work:
Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter Roadmaster Accessories and Parts RM-732

Or go with this ($109............):
Land Rover Trailer Wiring Kit (Same Fit As Genuine Part # HIL-734)

Simplest and cheapest:
Trailer Connector - 7-Way European Round To Flat-4 Conversion Plug / Harness - Land Rover trailer wiring kits & harnesses from Atlantic British

I think rovers north had it cheaper...call them or get on Atlantic British...you can chat with them while you browse.

I didnt have the 7 PIN european harness ready to go on mine just had the empty harness behind the passenger taillight where I assume that would be hooked up at? I used the Hopkins 46155 Taillight Converter Universal Kit and just spliced/solder into the wires I needed and works just like it should for about 20 dollars. I also bought a mount for the 4 pin adapter and mounted it to the rear bumper so I didnt just have dangling wires

I used this link for wire colors
