ok.. I read in another post that said I can check the fuse box to see if there is a short. can I just unplug the connections without having to go to the dealer to have them reprogram it? I want to look at the board inside to check for a short..

That is just a setup that allows just the drivers door to be unlocked with the first push of the unlock button on the remote, a second push will unlock the other three doors. It is done so that noone can jump in your car when you unlock the door to get in yourself. The dealer can disable it to make all doors unlock with the first push.

great... this is my next adventure.. anyone have a link for a new fuse box? (or used)
Can I just detach all the wires from the old to replace? or will I have to bring to a dealer to reprogram?
I read in another post that it could be the circuit board that shorted and that I would be able to check it.... anyone have info on this? Thanks for all the help everyone!! I actually feel like this might get fixed!! (oh yeah and I can get my truck back from my wife)

The short will not be visible, it is internal. I would recommend a new fuse box and it does not need to be programmed, it is plug_and_play. I hope this helps.

I am a bit concerned about the need to replace the fuse box. all the fuse box should do is provide power to the lock system, and it sounds like it is doing that. I would be more concerned about checking individual actuators, lock switches, the security module and possibly anything else that actually has something to do with the lock system before replacing a fuse box. Now if fuses were all good and you had a few other things in the car that were not getting power I might look at the fuse box, but I personally think replacing the fuse box without being 100% sure first may lead to an unnecessary expense.

Now because the vehicle does have progressive door locks (drivers door unlocks first then the other doors second) I would be checking the module that controls this before I check anything else.

Cool Just fix it

Chris, I the fuse box is not just a fuse box it is also an IDM as stated in my past post. Does anyone actually read this? This guy could spend a few more week here or just replace his fuse box/IDM and be done.

I did read it but I wasn't sure if the IDM was a part of the fuse box or just attached to the fuse box, most vehicles there are modules attached to the fuse box but the fuse box itself is just a junction box with fuses in it, I just didn't want him to replace an expensive part without making sure first, I am actually still not convinced that this really is the problem because if it was I don't think the other locks would do anything and I believe what he was explaining was they unlock and immediately lock again (like they would with a seized actuator)

and please don't take it that I am questioning your knowledge because I am not I just personally make sure somethings broke before I fix it, and with out anyone but the owner actually seeing the truck none of us can be 100% sure what the problem is.

If someone sends me a fax # I will send the wiring pages from rave. I just looked at me history and found that I have installed 11 interior fuse boxes for just this problem. I would not just tell someone to install a part without knowing what I was talking about. Also if anyone looked at the wiring diagram they would see that the actuators could not be the problem.
