Default Won't heat up!

Does anyone know where the drain valve is on the radiator for my 98 Discovery LSE? I cannot find it. The vehicle will not heat up, and I was going to try the thermostat first.

There is no drain valve, just make A mess. Do replace the thermostat & gasket.

If I am going to make a mess, where should I start? Which hose? I know if I take the bottom hose off, it will probably flood all over the floor. Should I just unbolt the thermostat housing on top and just make the mess from there?

Thanks for responding.

Yes, that is your best option. When replaceing the thermostat be sure to put it in with the stamped "top" to the top. Also be sure to get it in the recess otherwise it will leak, this is very tricky. Also be very sure to bleed the coolant system properly. You don't want to overheat this engine !

Ideally you would use A vacuum type filler. Real world, fill up, turn on defrost and drive until you burp the cooling system. Watch the temp guage ! Don't let it get to hot. Then let cool off and top off.
