Default UPDATE Wont start,03 new starter no luck

Once again another pickle from it. It acted up a few months ago and been sitting since. I used multi meter and showing 12v at starter and 12 at sig wire when hit the key. So I put new starter on and walaa, same thing. It dont click it simply turn over about1/4 turn slow and thats it. I pulled belt checked to make sure all front acc. were spinning free even turned crank by hand. All I can think now maybe a ground issue? The one on back head pulled loose but was on, and still has a big on on front. I tried search for problem but seemed no one quite same and with work just now getting very little time to try fix it. But really need get fixed winter fast approaching and have a big set tires and lift kit from this time last year ready to install.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like bad cell in battery or corroded battery leads. 12v doesn't necessarily mean enough amps are getting to starter. Just some thoughts.

I have used jumper cables to go from battery to starter directly(just the positive to big nut) then try to start. If it does, then you know where to look.

That sounds like a classic voltage drop to me. Check the voltage on the battery connection at the starter while cranking, not the switched one on the solenoid that's only hot when cranking. The battery cable itself. If all is good there, it shouldn't drop much, if any, below 12 volts. If there's a problem in the cable it will drop substantially during cranking.
To get an accurate voltage drop reading you can connect one multimeter lead to the battery positive terminal and the other one on the other end of the same cable at the starter. Whatever the meter reads will be your exact voltage drop.

Sorry late reply. Been busy at work and with 3hr drive each day and dark at 8 not much time. Other night checked when cranking it drops to 10.5 volts. It still sounds the same with other batteries and starter. Hate throwing parts at it but going dig a little more before calling it quits.

It sounds like you may need a new positive battery cable, or the terminals may need to be cleaned up. Check connections on both ends. It shouldn't drop that much, especially with a known good battery and a new starter. If the ends of the cable aren't corroded, it's more than likely somewhere in the wire, under the insulation.

Well.... New starter and battery and still same thing. It barely turns over and if I hold it longer than 3or4 seconds it sends me a smoke signal out of the center console. Going to make a new positive cable and new ends. Errr this thing is frustrating. Is the starter relay under console, they dont do anything goofy like run it through the neutral safety switch do they. Thought about pulling console just to see what it is but so pressed for time dont feel I will ever get caught up on the homestead.
Thanks for all the replies.

Fail, the damn ground was bad. Was going buy a ground kit and didnt. So not having it running all summer it is now alive. Got the 2" lift and 275/65/18s now kinda ready for snow.
