Starter is is working but engine wont start....where to begin?

 

try the usual suspects first.

1. Battery Voltage
2. Fuel pressure and fuel cutoff switch
3. Spark.

then report back.

 

Ok here we go.... voltage ok, fuel pressure ok but had to bench test it. Something has shut down the fuel pump and the spark. Could it be something with the alarm system? Did find that the wiring has been spliced in the back quarterpannel????? i need a schematic of the wiring harness to see what they have done....anyone got one?

 

Have you tried resetting the inertia switch on the firewall? If there's no spark and the fuel pump is off, then this is the next thing I'd check...

Yes, the inertia switch was one of the first things i tried. Didn't make a difference. I was reading back on some old posts and found it could possibly be the crankshaft sensor.

 

ok....before you go replacing parts un-necessarily, get a code reader. pull the code.

and how did you test the inertia switch?

 

Had it towed to my mechanic yesterday. No codes appear.

I didn't actually test the inertia switch, I just tried to reset it.

 

It's your Crank Position Sensor (DII). Mine just went and I had the same symptoms and NO codes. It was $70 at Advance Auto.

 

Just picked one up. Hopefully that is it.........for now!
