SoI was cleaning my 99 discoII and I was wondering what that little **** is for that is right in b/t the defrost vents on top of the dash? Anyone got a clue.... like auto headlight option or rainsensing wipers perhaps?

That is a heat/infra red sensor for the a/c, leave it along.
