Default Xfer Case Output Seal-On my 3rd Replacement!

Hi Everyone,

I had a small leak from my output seal on my xfer case, I replaced the seal and flange in hopes it would fix my 70-75 mph vibration which turned out to be a poorly balanced front driveshaft.

I drove the seal all the way against the circlip for the output shaft bearing and had a leak coming from the case (looks like a drip coming out below the dust shield on the flange). Installed another seal last weekend using the dist shield on the flange as a seal pusher, drove it about 60 miles and no problems but now another leak from the same spot. I reused the felt seal and probably should have used some black Permatex on it but didnt.

If there was a problem with the breather you would think the 60 mile drive in 100 plus degree heat in traffic would have reared its ugly head.

Has anyone else had any problems when replacing this seal? I've been using a synthetic 75w90 and the case isn't overfull....

Could it be a bad bearing that keeps taking out the seal?

is there possibly a ridge on the shaft where the old seals were riding?
