Default XYZ Switch Or Something Else?

So I pulled the rover into the garage to check the spark plugs and fiddle with the reverse lights. Got done and went to pull it out but it wouldn't go into reverse. Its almost as though it doesn't recognize that I am stepping on the brakes to engage reverse. I read a couple of threads about the XYZ switch but wanted to get some feedback before I start digging in. Thoughts?

Just confirmed, no rear brake lights. So does that mean I just need a new brake light switch?

Just to close this one out. Fuse #25 blown. Replaced and up and running. Glad it wasn't something more serious!

Sorry to be a buzz kill, but isn't the question what short or other defect caused the fuse to blow?

I was messing with the reverse/fog lights - wiring them up with quick disconnects. I suspect I connected the power and ground together and tried to turn on the lights to test them.

This simple little post is going to help someone searching for this issue five years down the road SO much. I wish so many more people would close out posts like this with the resolution.

I had this problem recently, from what I understand it can be either the XYZ switch or the brake light switch by the petal/ brake light fuse. Either way you should be able to pop the shifter bezel surround up and manually disengage the shift lock if need be.

mln, fuses do occasionally just go open without a fault, especially old fuses. If you replace it and it blows again you’ve confirmed that there is a problem.
