Exclamation XYZ or T-case neutral??? Help!

turned the truck off wen tto turn it on and got nothing but a single click with every key turn. battery is good and connections are good. i never had a problem shifting gears, reading gear selection on the console or shift lever. i ran a hot wire to the battery and turned the key and it turned right over. banging with the hammer didnt work as i realized it wasn't getting the low current it needed to engage.

is there a way to tell the difference between an xyz sensor failure vs a t-case neutral failure?

those are the two things i have come down to believing are the problem but do not feel like just throwing parts at it.

anyone?

When installing my D1 CDL, I jostled one of the linkages on the tranny and had a similar problem. I figured that I had managed to throw the XYZ out of whack. In my case, I was able to undo the issue by adjusting the linkage.

Are you able to take the key out of the ignition? When this happened I couldn't. If the key is stuck, then my thought would be that XYZ switch is bad.

If you turn the key all the way on can you shift out of park?

Go get your charging system tested, I 'll bet your problem is there. Whenever you get a click, either you have a dirty/loose cable or low voltage which should be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts.

voltage is good, battery is good, all the connections are clean and tight, alternator is strong running 14.2 i tested all that on the trail. i can get an XYZ from Will for $75 shipped with a year warantee but i just want to make sure that is the problem. I also saw someone used tubing to re-route the AC drain that drips on the XYZ switch, i know people take them off and drill them open and find them full of water so im guessing that is what will happen with me. I would hate to spend the $75 and find out that it's the tcase neutral switch instead.
