I like the idea of glassing it for reinforcement. I will probably have her a while and I swear if that thing falls down after I fix.... I will just have to do it again.

yeah, it isn't hard to get out, just tedious. Not something you want to do twice. Just remember that if you are doing fabric, get 2 cans of adhesive and use it all. Don't be stingy.

The body shop tried to tell me that they would need my truck for 2 days.
I said "no, I'll pick it up at 5. Guys do this in their driveway in less than a day."
When I picked it up they said it was the easiest headliner they had ever done.

Help, I had my windshield replaced on my 04 disco II. I have a gap between windshield and headliner due to thick molding that is holding the windshield in place to the vericle. Is this normal? Headliner does not sit flush against front windshield more like a gap of 1 inch
Thanks

Take it back, it is supposed to look just like the old one did.

I just redid my headliner for the second time first time i used the 3m spray and it sagged again in 1 weeks time i took it all down again and this time i went to the fabric store and they sold me some glue in a bottle called tack it. you take the old fabric off clean the headliner and with replacement material you poor the glue on the headliner use a fine toothed grouting trowl and spread it out evenly wait till the glue is dry to a tacky feel and put the new fabric on ensuring to get out all the wrinkles now my headliner cost me about $80 the seond time and its holding up really good so far knock on wood.

I was waiting on the wife the other day so I started pulling the loose headliner down and trimming pieces off with my pocketknife. I am going to vacumn as much off as possible with it still mounted, then I will decide what to do with it.

Gotta make use of every minute.

"Waiting on a Woman" good country song, as well as "You Find Out Who Your Friends Are" it should be a Rover owner's theme song.

It's not that big of a deal to do it right. There are a couple hours involved to carefully remove the old shell w/o making any permanant marks or holes. I spent right at $150 total to include a gallon of fiberglass resin and 3 packs of the matt, the headliner material, and misc glue, etc. After removal I used straight resin to paint the back and let it dry. Then I added two layers of the matt w/ resin. I let that dry then flipped it over and took off the old liner and the dryrotted foam. Be careful not to remove the bottom layer as it is what the new material glues to. The hardest part was getting cloth wide enough. Standard width is 60" and you need at least 62". Wholesale USA in St Louis has anything you could ever imagine for interior work. They are the supplier for the trim shops around here and will sell to the public. I got a 1/4" backed charcoal piece 3 yards long for $60 and the glue was another $30 for two cans. They have the real deal, not the cheap stuff you get in hardware stores. Make sure you drill out the holes for the rear mesh storage things before you cover everything. After wire brushing the dryrotted foam off I had my brother help me w/ the cloth. You defiantely need two people to get it on right. While the liner was out I used an asphaltic rubber (like dynamat) that is available from partsexpress.com for 1/4 the price of Dynamat. It is well worth the effort as it makes a significant noise reduction especially if you do the doors and carge door. After having my wife back into the Benz last week I decided to add a rear camera. $129 w/ a 3.5" monitor from Autozone. I ran the camera wire from the rear inside 3rd brake light to the rear view mirror and added a reverse camera by tieing power into the reverse light (Black and solid green) in the back. I removed the 3rd brake light and enlarged the hole where the light snaps in. I then drilled a 1.25" hole dead center in the red plastic so the camera can see out the back. I got two small snap in lights and drilled holes to mount them on either side so I still have brake lights up high. It works great and is totally invisibly in the back. It is also high enough that I can see the boat when backing up. Hopefully my wife will be able to see the other cars now.
