Yet Another Spark Plug Thread (YASPT)
Yes, yet another one
I saw comments on some old threads requesting to start a new thread and not revive old ones, so here goes. Been having an intermittent misfire on cyl 5 and 8 (with codes to match). When I purchased the car 2 years ago I had an independent euro shop do the 60k mile service and replaced all the plugs and wires. I always thought they'd installed Bosch or Champions but apparently they are NGK BKR6E. Does anyone have any experience with these plugs on a Disco II? I am most likely going to replace them with Bosch 4s which many here seem to like.

Haha! I guess I've been lucky with my Disco. Got it at 60k miles on July 4th 2015. Other than this misfire and a stuck rear driver side door actuator, haven't had too many issues.
I've got NGK Iridium IX #3764 in my 2001 Disco and they work great.
People say not to check the gap on these plugs because 1) the electrode tip is very delicate and 2) they come pregapped. I would strongly advise to cautiously and carefully check the gap on these plugs before installing them. I had gap measurements ranging from .028 to .050!

I've had great results with Autolite Iridium/Double Platinum Plugs, and the same results with NGK Iridium/Double Platinum Plugs. Any of the Bosch plugs with a flush mounted center electrode = RUN AWAY DO NOT USE!! They foul badly and DO NOT work well in LR V8's.
I run NGKs in everything. I use the copper core plugs in my disco. They work great.
I literally wouldn't put Bosch plugs in my engine if you gave them to me for free. I don't mean just my disco; any of my vehicles.

I've had the factory-spec Champion double platinums in my '99 DII for 7 1/2 years and 55,000 miles and they're still going strong.
The genius "import specialist shop" and installed copper Champions about a year prior and misfires cropped up in under 10,000 miles. It was those misfires that got me back into wrenching after 25 years of letting others work on my cars.
The one good thing that shop did was install STI wires. Those too are still going strong.
The wasted-spark system in our trucks eat up old-fashioned copper plugs. They need the double platinums.

Long ago I learned to despise Champion from dealing with air-cooled VW engines that had seized L86C plugs literally welded to the heads. But Champion DP plugs seem to run great in Rover V8 engines, and they last a very long time.
