Default Your Opinion & Recommendations MY D2 Upgrades Premium European antifreeze with Corgar

Hello everyone from Canada. Two weeks ago I purchased a 2002 D2 with 120;000 km, for the sole purpose of using it as a winter beater but since driving it I have really liked it and now I’m in consideration of keeping it. The vehicle does have some issues which need to be fixed and I will start a different post regarding those issues or maybe continue it on this thread (not sure what the forum etiquette is as I am not familiar with online forums).

However since I’m contemplating the idea of keeping this vehicle past winter , from all the reading I’ve done on this forum I’ve decided there’s two things that I’m going to do immediately

180 thermostat
replace front drive shaft

my initial question is how do I know or recognize if these items have been upgraded or changed already?

if there’s any other things you would recommend please let me know I will give you a quick service history of the vehicle as you can see it’s very low mileage and has had the following work done last year from the previous owner This is what it says on the invoice

-abs diagnosis preventative maintenance. Inspection
-battery replace new wiring and cables—Air intake decarbonization and lubricate throttle linkage
-tune up;
Air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires side, intake premium gasket, valve cover gaskets, Premium European antifreeze with Cor guard, Remove and replace intake manifold gasket plenum w/air pump fuel injection
-rear brake pads callipers and rotors replace including hydraulic brake hose
-brake fluid flush
-Front windshield wiper blades replays, rear windshield wiper blades replace (rear is missing and not working I will tackle this later)
-transfer case sensor and wiring repair, transfer case temperature sensor, 75W 90 synthetic differential fluid.
-Rust check undercarriage spray

all this was done last year and the vehicle was only used for 10,000 km since that time

@Oshawa_D2 Hi and Welcome.

Drive shaft is easy crawl underneath and check for grease nipples 4 or more and it is a greasable replacement. Then get it greased to make sure it is good and make sure it greased every oil change

Thermostat is harder black or grey are 180 replacements otherwise likely original. I would suggest contacting @Extinct on here and getting the inline replacement. You can capture the coolant and lose very little when you make the change.

Next buy a check bluetooth ODB sender about $45 CDN and get Torque for Android or Iphones and monitor your engine temp. You have a sleeved aluminum engine, overheat is very bad warped heads or head gasket failure.

Finally do the PCV mod there is a thread on that, it will make you engine happy.

From there you will doing maintenance as thing come up, and at 18 years old stuff will come up
