Writing this as I searched many forums. My 2017 discovery sport gas with a 2.0 ecoboost would throw engine lights randomly when starting, it would usually be a misfire cylinder 4 so I changed the ignition coils on all. 1 month later, engine light on again and started hard throwing p0016, p0017, p001a, p0011

multiple opinions later, LR specialist confirmed camshaft is out of sync due to actuator issue. The Found On Road Dead engines in these from a ford fusion along with other LR models lived up to its name.

4800 CAD repair due to actuator moving freely moving, locking pin spring and cap were missing so cost was diagnostics, labour, new actuator, bolt, guides, timing chain and then new oil and filter.
I have extended warranty but will be fighting with them to pay it for sure. LR knows this is an issue but for whatever reason they aren’t recalling and it’s a pricey fix. Swapped camshaft sensor first at home hoping that would be the issue but it didn’t resolve any of the 4 permanent codes.

mine is at 89,000 KM (under 60,000 mil)

advice: trade yours while it is still worth something as I’m 10k into mine this now with brakes, ignition coils, this repair and a heated windshield replacement, and diagnostics. Also recommend getting your own code reader to help with diagnostics, I’m a true LR family member now carrying mine in my console everywhere I go 🥺
