Default Timing chain on the Land Rover Discovery Sport Diesel (from 2015) – looking for infor

Hello everyone,

I hope there are a few mechanics and Land Rover experts here 😊

I'm currently looking into replacing the timing chain on a Discovery Sport Diesel (from 2015, 2.2 TD4 / 150 hp). I do a lot of repairs myself and want to understand the engine properly – not just the replacement itself, but also how it works, the TDC position, locking points and the typical pitfalls during installation.

I realise that the basic principles are similar for all diesel engines (chain, tensioner, locking pin, camshaft gears, TDC markings, etc.), but some things seem to be different with Land Rover in particular – for example, access from the passenger side and the installation of the chain on the ‘back’ of the engine.

I would be very grateful if anyone here could:

provide good instructions or documentation (PDF or workshop manual),

recommend a video (ideally for this specific engine),

or simply share their practical experience and tips (e.g. which special tools are really necessary – locking pins, chain tensioners, torque values, etc.).

I welcome any advice, including on topics such as
🛠 ‘Tensioning the chain during installation’,
🔩 ‘Difference between 2.0 and 2.2 diesel’,
or general tricks to save time and hassle when working.
