Default 2013 LR4 Engine Failure with no fault codes

Hi folks, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2013 LR4 with 104K miles on it and the engine has failed. I'm being told by the dealership (whom I trust) that it has a broken connecting rod. No fault codes were found and the laptop analysis has revealed no abnormalities in the ignition system, air or fuel system as well as the transmission. I sent the truck in with a slight hesitation which was exacerbated by small inclines. They had the truck for about two weeks and put 50 or so miles on it trying to get the hesitation resolved when the connecting rod broke and I say that by way of their speculation as I have not had them take apart the motor to confirm. There is however a lot of silver and brass metal shavings in the engine oil at the oil filter. I am wondering:
1.if the hesitation is/was related to the failure of the connecting rod and 2. if the tires I'm running had anything to do with it as they are 2 inches larger in diameter than the stock tires and I run Johnson 2.5 inch lift rods. I have driven the truck for at least 10K miles with the tires. The dealership says it has nothing to do with that. Trying to decide if I should have a new motor put in or take the loss an move on.

I’ve an ‘05 LR3. Been driving it since ‘08. I know nothing mechanical. A few months ago sitting at light i smell smoke/steam. Can’t be me, must be car beside me. Drive 2 more blocks to home and the engine is billowing smoke/steam and fluid dripping dead center between wheels. Tow it to independent mechanic. Apparently he does pressure check, i need new hoses everywhere for $895. I tell him I’ll think about it. I call my brother, a tinkerer, he arrives next day, removes plastic engine cover and finds problem immediately. Goes to LR dealership buys the $17 bleed valve and fixed in 15 mins

@Cruiser
Looks like your post is about 5 months old now, how did you end up?
#1 piece of advice I can share is this; No matter how friendly a shop is, or how much you trust them, or if your friend or family member works there even...Never trust anybody when it comes to fixing your car, doing your brakes, or even a simple oil change.
With a Land Rover, in North America at least, it's well worth your time to study a manual, buy some tools and figure it out yourself. Take it to a shop when you have messed it up further or really can't figure it out :P
At the end of the day, its just a few nuts & bolts.
