I have been spending a lot of time logging with HP Tuners and fixing small bugs and issues. One such issue was a very odd battery drain that only occurred after short trips around town. Problem has been solved after messing with the tune a bit. I also spent a few days replacing a broken XYZ switch which was causing the usual issues. A new switch fixed that problem and we've had no issues since.

There are some issues that will only manifest with miles and time, so as soon as we are confident the bugs are worked out we will be ready to go. I am anxious to see what the 'beta-testers' have to say and their experiences with installation.

I have to admit almost makes me want a D2 so I could do the swap. Of course a lot of guys are putting LS motors in their 110's so I could do that lol

Thanks for the update. I’ve got a ‘99 and an ‘01 I would love to improve the power on. Keep up the great work.

This upgrade is intriguing, I visited the web site and it does not look to have kits yet ready for sale. Once you settle in on a kit price for the 03 Discovery this will be a consideration of mine.

We made some progress today. Pulled one 4.0, then went and pulled another 4.0 along with a 4HP22 transmission. Should have an LS by the end of the week.

Hey Ace,
Love what you are doing here and just wanted to say that you've got yourself another customer!
Used to own a 94 Disco with a manual tranny that shaped me into the mechanic I am today. Recently purchased a non-running 04 Discovery and cannot wait to give it a new heart and get it back on the road!

Have you considered putting together a guide on your website that covers individual state engine swap laws? Or maybe just some things to consider post swap when thinking about safety and emissions inspections? I'm in Texas, here is what the state laws dictate for engine swaps:

The simple rule is that a vehicle must have all emissions components that were present when it was manufactured, which may include:
  • PCV - positive crankcase ventilation
  • ACL - air cleaner (thermostatic air cleaner)
  • AIS - secondary air injection
  • EGR - exhaust gas recirculation
  • EVAP - evaporative emission
  • CAT - catalytic convertor
  • SPK - spark control
  • FR - fillpipe restrictor
  • O2S - oxygen sensor
P.s. sorry if this has already been mentioned I skipped to the last page after having read a few pages into this thread.
Edit: Just FYI for anyone looking at Discos right now, I paid $1350 for the 2004 D2, not running, 134k on the clock. Will need to spend another $400-800 on delivery costs.
