Discovery 2 LS Conversion
Hope everyone is staying safe during this difficult time. Despite its difficulties, one positive is that I have had more time to look into improvements and other things with ACE. I’ve been simplifying the electrical rewiring necessary with the swap, and I've had a chance to explore different performance enhancements that I always wanted to. I have also been selling kits to shops since earlier this year.
I was able to give the original prototype Discovery an upgrade with the most up to date design. I was happy with how the original conversion parts help up, and now it is all buttoned back up and ready to get back on the road. I also want to thank ArmyRover for getting the new Engine Swap forum going. It looks like it’s getting more traffic. Again, hope everyone stays safe!

Another question for those that have completed the swap, or are close. How much clearance do you have between the lower bell housing and the front drive shaft? I just completed my swap a few days ago and have been doing some smaller shakedown trips into town and noticed that over sharp bumps, my driveshaft touches the bell housing. I do have a Terrafirma 2" lift as well. I'm not opposed to grinding the bell housing for clearance but am curious what others have experienced here. I have close to an inch of clearance is all. Seems like it should be much more than that.

Hey all,
I'm late to this party and apologize for all of the duplicate questions I may end up posing to the crowd upfront.
The Alternative Conversions Engineering website shows the following in their FAQ
What exactly will I have to buy to make this work?
A parts list with model numbers is available on the product page. In general terms, you can expected to need:
- What scan tool do you need to flash the GM ECU?
#2:
- Why is a 2 inch lift required?
#3:
What throttle body is required or has been working for people who have attempted this feat.
#3.5:
Does the cruise control work with a replacement/relocated cable?
#4:
- How many people have attempted this and are seeing it come to reasonable fruition?
The kit looks great but there are a few holes I need to fill before I proceed.
Thanks everyone for our input.

- LS engine
- LS wiring harness
- LS engine computer (ECU) flashed to our specifications
- Low profile oil pan
- 2 inch lift kit
- Exhaust manifolds or headers
- Throttle body
- New set of heater hoses and assorted coolant hoses
- Several vacuum lines

Wanted to share a video of my disco finally running! It's been quite the road to get here. Just trying to button up the emissions right now but might stop short as it's not required in my current county.

For those wondering, the exhaust sounds amazing because there is no exhaust!
My radiator got pierced because i'm a dummy. New Allisport radiator on the way.
I'll answer Laderout's questions from above. Keep in mind that ACE is no longer selling directly to the public and only marketing to shops at the moment.
Question #1:
- What scan tool do you need to flash the GM ECU? HP Tuners is the most common but I had the company that made my harness modify my ECU as well.
#2:
- Why is a 2 inch lift required? The GM engine is usually heavier and sits lower than the original one.
#3:
What throttle body is required or has been working for people who have attempted this feat. Drive by cable is the easiest but you can use drive by wire if you swap the pedal assembly and use the right GM ECU.
#3.5:
Does the cruise control work with a replacement/relocated cable? Yes
#4:
- How many people have attempted this and are seeing it come to reasonable fruition? I would guess ~10-15?

Has anyone else had to clearance the bell housing for the front driveshaft? If so, how much material did you remove? I don't have much room there and I get an occasional noise if I hit a sharp bump. Confirmed it's this location as I can see where it is hitting. Thanks.
