Default P38 4.6 into 2003 Land Rover disco 2

What’s up guys, finally about to make the plunge into getting my truck with it’s new (used) engine from a 1999 Range Rover P38. 90k miles.... My beloved 2003 Disco 2 with 78k miles will hopefully be running soon *photo attached

im on a bit of a budget hence a used Range Rover engine but just wondering what I should let the shop know to change or keep an eye out for if anything about an engine swap like this,

I know these aren’t complicated engines but my truck has sat for about 16months waiting for this job to happen. Aside from normal new gaskets and seals and things like that Is there a big chance of things going wrong maybe electrically or if the Computer could have issues with the new engine?

the truck has been in a garage 90% of the time it sat although the engine bay is a mess, pieces everywhere from the failed rebuild it had prior

What do you guys think of my idea for a swap and thanks for any response, much appreciated

I did the same thing this June. 2002 P38 4.6 into my 2003 D2.

No issues.

One note. The P38 has a different ground for the engine. I used the same ground for the D2 that is in the rear of the engine on the drivers side. It is the steel/aluminum looking flat strap.

I did use the upper intake manifold from the D2. I was nervous about throttle cable being tensioned correctly so this solved that issue.

In 1999 the 4.6 engine was an option. Even the HSE models would come with the 4.0 engine. Make sure it is a 4.6. If not you will need to get a 4.0 ECU for a D2.

Also, make sure you get new engine mounts. When I pulled my D2 engine the motor mounts were split and not reusable.
