Most of the time the thermostat is good. It's a short plastic type pipe that becomes brittle and cracks and begins to leak. I removed the intake to get to time and I bought the thermostat kit when I only needed the pipe. I remember seeing the pipe on ebay at one time for $12.

Fairly new to this site 2002 freelander w/ 57000 miles on her and I'm about to take on the Theromostat replacement monster. I work on American cars so this will be a little strange to me I'm sure.
I did have a question, I replaced the coolant temp sensor and need to know, What is the best way to remove air from the cooling system.
no real issues yet, just want to avoid any

I have a 2002 freelander and i just replaced the fuel pump and head gasket. the problem now is it wont start when the engine is hot. Is the problem connected with the T stat? Please advice, cause my mechanic gave up already i hate to give up cause this is such a nice car.

If no spark when this condition, suspect Crank Position Sensor (it has one) or CKP.
