Just had a heater core done not too long ago....now antifreeze is leaking . seems to be collecting on top of the motor under the plastic cover and below the intake. looks like radiator hoses going to a plastic cap or cover of some sort. Any idea whats leaking??? Seems to occur more with A/C on???

 

It's the thermostat they are pricey i just did a rad hose the hose was $130 i had never paid that much for a hose, thermostat will be $200+ good luck top of motor has to come off so $300 for labour

 

oh no..only on a landrover could a thermostat cost $700. I just put one on my plymouth for $4.50.

 

I know same with the rad hose 4ft of hose for $130 has a special fitting though but still only wirth $23 IMO no other aftermarket that I can find

 

you need the thermostat and the hose that goes over it. they are not that expensive. they are pretty cheap around seventy for both maybe less. Anyway the parts can come out from underneath the intake. just pull off the hoses and unbolt the bracket in the front of the engine that covers part of the hose to give you some space. but beware the pieces like to break inside and you have force out the pieces. just dont damage the block and make sure they are seated completely or else they will leak.

where are you getting your parts and what model freelander because to get at my thermostat the intake plenam and cast intake with fuel rails and pvc and vacume lines all had to be removed to get at the $197 part from stealership and hoses just dont pull off they have a pain in th a$$ conection, this is not a 30min job I think it took me 4 hours or so to do

 

We bought my wife's Freelander 1.8 at 4 months old in February 2002. A few minor problems since, but last week the sunroof broke on one side whilst it was open. I struggled to get the sunroof shut as it started to rain. Just took it in for service and asked them to have a look at the sunroof to be told I need two new runners
