Default Buying from a distance- anyone in Hull?

Hey Allm
Greetings from N. Africa! Our 2003 Freelander was destroyed in one of the embassy attacks last September. We are now moving on to Kenya, and my wife's got her eye on a replacement 2006 Freelander being sold up in Hull by a dealer - Evans Halshaw. Anyone got any experience with them? or would be willing to check it out for me? Hate to buy sight unseen and ship to Kenya, but my nearest bloke is in London and he's off traveling at the moment. If anyone is willing to check it out I'll send ya the details and offer you a free room if you every fancy to drop down to Nairobi !

Michael

Ok, I guess mentioning africa was not the brightest idea in these days of Nigerian scams.

Just to clarify, I don't have a million pound check to cash or any nonsense like that. Just wondering if anyone close by can take a peek at this Freelander and tell me what they think.

Here's what I'm looking at:

It is being sold by a Renault dealer. Make him send you copies of paper work, more photos, etc. If he wants to sell it the sales weasel will get busy. Have them include a service of all fluids in the vehicle (including diffs) as part of the purchase price, contact the service manager and ask for a write up of anything else he thinks it will need. Is there an LR dealer nearby? You could insist on an inspection by them. The dealer has so much profit margin in a used vehicle they can afford to do some things. Or you contact a garage in Hull and pay for a "road service call" and their mechanic goes out and has a look. Good luck.

Be sure the tyres are in good shape.

I'd post on one of the UK Land Rover forums. You're a lot more likely to find someone in Hull. I've been to Hull, but that doesn't do you any good.
