Extended warranty?!
I own a 2005 Freelander with 45,000 miles. I took it in to the dealer today because it was leaking some pink fluid on my garage floor. The service dept rep asked me if I liked it and if I planned to keep ityes to both. He suggested I buy an extended warranty. He claims that most Freelanders need an engine replacement... Is this just a line?! He said it would cost about 5K which sounded expensive. He claims an engine replacement would cost 10K. I am a single female and don't want to get taken...
Hello sprat6164... yes, I would suggest that u get the extended warranty andu won'tbe sorry. I own an 02 F/L and I had the engine replaced at 47k and yes it was covered by the extended warranty up to 100k miles.I only paidthe $200 deductible + maybe another $200 for the misc. that was not covered. Right now I have about 60k on mine and it is runningtrouble free at this time but I keep up w/ the services that it requires sometimes more. (',)
Mine has 45,500 miles on it. It is in the shop right now for a fluid leak that the mechanics cannot find (but the pink and black fluid on my garage floor beg to differ). I was planning to keep it another 2-3 years because it is paid off and I really have enjoyed owning it.
How did you go about finding a company for the extended warranty? There are so many companies out there and I know I will need to read the fine print to make sure that engines are covered... heard a rumor that engines for freelanders are hard to come by.
check w/your land rover dealer in your area about easycare goldwarranty (apco) based in atlanta, georgia. i got mine from a land rover dealer in redwood city, californiawhere i take my freelander for service and maintenance. i tell you if you're planning to keep it for another 3-4 yrs. get one and you won't be sorry... and it'll cover you up to 100k miles. :-))
