Hi
I own a Freelander 2 td4_e 2010 model and until now i didn't had to do anything more than scheduled maintenance on my landie..

but yesterday on a short city run while waiting at a traffic light the car suddenly started shuddering and when i tried to leave there was no power..no engine light or error messages on screen... i pushed to the side of road and felt like engine lacked fuel or air... very small amount of black smoke was coming out of exhaust! I was not able to get it to work...
when the tow truck arrived i explained him and he said it must be turbo and since then i am bit worried...

I am just back from a extensive offroading trip and thought it might be air filter blocked or the fuel injectors might have got some dirt or something...

can anybody help me understand the problem i have with my landie

When you removed the air filter what did it look like (like fresh out of the carton, or packed full of dust, mud, trash)?

 

I didnt open the air filter, awaiting to take the car tomorrow to Landrover dealer....
Also an update, today when trying to crank the car there is a very metalic noise from engine... lets see what they say tomorrow..

Would not say anything about off roading.

 

Unfortuntely, Car is not in warranty since last few months, since sept 2012 to be precise...
Today I called the dealership and they say they can't even look at it until next week towards end... So I am stuck....
I got an appointment in other dealership for 26th.. So lets see..
Spain literally closes down in August and then they say there is crisis and 6million people are unemployed....

 

Our national legislative body is the same way... what a surprise!
