Freelander Brakes, Codes, and Coolant
My wife and i own a 2003 Freelander and we've had nothing but problems since its purchase. Both check engine lights come on repeatedly, ,gas cap had to be replaced, throttle box assembly was replaced (via recall), computer software was upgraded and reset several times, and brakes have never gone more than 1 day without squeaking (even after being replaced twice). Now, all warning lights have come on (again) - TC, both ck engine, battery - vehicle shakes and slams into second gear, and coolant reservoir looks dirty and empty. Any ideas? Should I throw this thing away or what?
I realize I need to add coolant immediately - what kind does this vehicle need? (I'm used to GM). Do I need to go to the dealer to check all codes/recalls/etc? Should I have the brakes done at a standard garage? My typical mechanic can not test all codes and functions with his computer - should I bypass him and go straight to Land Rover in Paramus, NJ?
