Hi everybody!
I have a Land Rover Freelander 2001 V6 2,5 aut petrol.
My IRD is broken and I have just bought a new one.
With the help from a couple of friends we will now try to replace it.
Has anyone done this before? Do you have to remove engine and gearbox before replacement - or is it possible to work from underneath the car using a screw jack to hold it in position?
Any experience or good advice? Any web page on the net that describes this kind of operation?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Robert

Here is a single page from the factory shop manual, which is called the RAVE. This is a complex task, and the best information you can get before attempting it is to download the whole shop manual, and read all the associated tasks, then evaluate your work space, available tools, and skill and determination of friends, fortified by adult beverage of choice. Or get quote from indy shop, but many places don't like to warranty work that involves parts not supplied by them.
You will see the level of info on this page of the shop manual. The manual also divides the task into slices from other areas (like automatic gearbox), and will refer you back and forth to other parts of the manual. So 3 or 4 pages won't be enough. You can download the whole thing, or you can look online at one section, see links in my signature.
