Perusing the threads I notice many of you Land Rover veterans advise others not to touch a Freelander with a 10 foot pole. I was curious, does this apply to all models, or only those with the Rover engine? I'm in Europe and there are a ton of cheaply available TD4 aka the ones with the BMW engine.

Does the TD4 also come with the negative observations and problems? Or is this less affected and considered a more reliable model by the community?

 

The north American version, I would walk away from. However the TD4 which wasn't offered here I have heard really good things about.
