Default freelander td4 tailgate opens when ignition is on

Hi, We have a TD4 (51 plate) freelander which has developed a problem. Recently I fitted a new rear tailgate window mechanism as the cable had corroded. All was well until today.. now when the ignition is switched on the rear window mechanism drops the window and opens the tailgate, the window mechanism then grinds and turns until the the ignition is turned off and then the door is shut, once this happens the window returns to its closed position and all is well until the ignition is turned on again, then the whole process starts again... all the interior lights come on and at night is quite off putting whilst trying to drive....... any ideas?

Thanks
Ian

check the wiring to the rear door for issues, also check to make sure the brake lights are all correct and not burned out.

seen weird issues with bad bulbs and the wrong ones as well.
