Headlights problem
First of all,I'm new to this so please bare with me if this problem has been discussed before. Also I'm Norwegian so my English might be a bit limited.
The thing is that I have replaced the original radio in my Freelander 2004. Everything went smooth in the operation and I didn't even get any left-over parts
So far so good.
I discovered last night that the headlights were on and went out to switch them off. And here is the problem. They just won't go off no matter what I do! I have to cut the power from the battery to make it stop.
This is just the headlights. Everyting else seems to function properly.
I haven't been anywhere near the lightswitch in the works I did with the radio so I have absolutely no idea what the problem may be.

Hallo,
Here are wiring diagrams for the Freelander headlights. But these are NAS (North American Spec) and may be slightly different. Basicaly, there is an input from the head light circuit that triggers the central control unit to make a beep when door is open and head lights on. So it should have warned you when you exitted truck. Another place to look is the fuses used for head lights, in the passenger compartment. If wiring was added to them or disturbed, could be a problem. You can try removing these fuses one by one to isolate where the "feed" voltage is coming from. If your country has those "day time headlights" there is an extra module that does that, and it could be getting voltage or not getting a ground, and staying on. The whole RAVE manual set can also be downloaded in my signature, but electrical shows NAS and Canadian, not sure what ROW (rest of world) uses in this case.
If you have day time head lights and the door being opened did not sound tone with lights on, might check ground at C0562. See attached.
With electrical, it may not be related to your work on the sound system. May just be what we call "Murphy's Law" - anything that can go wrong - will.

I need to specify.
It's the day time headlights that won't go off. I can switch the main headlights on and off and the alarm for lights on is working as it should.
I am really in the deep end here så I guess I'll get some pro to look at it in the coming week.
I'm afraid I'll only damage more than I fix if I start pulling in the wires.
I was hoping for a secret on/off switch somewhere

Passenger compartment fuse box - fuse 3 - if you remove that the running lights should be off. Also turns off rear washer. But would allow rest of truck to stay powered up. Of course, driving with lights off may get you a ticket, so you may have to manually turn on head lights.
Don't ask me how it happened but the problem is solved. I pulled and jiggled sveral relays, gave up and cut the power. When I reconnected the power to drive the lights were off. They now work as they should in every position.
Weird.
Weird.
