Help! Wipers acting funny!
I bought a 2002 Freelander recently, so I do not have any historical information on the problem. Here are the issues I have with my wipers -
1. The Front Wipers do not go down all the way when I turn them off. They stop in the middle of the windshield. I have to turn them off exactly when they are coming down, regardless of the wiper speed.
2. The rear wiper does not make a complete cycle. It only travels about 60-70 degrees, instead of the 160-180 degrees it is supposed to.
Have any of you experienced the same issue? I'd greatly appreciate any inputs, thoughts.

Good, I am glad to know I am not the only one. I can't even figure out the pattern of the front wipers. I turn the **** thing and I never know what to expect.
I bought mine with a bad back wiper. Had it fixed and it seems to be a very weak wiping attempt.

The wiper switches on the Freelanders and Discoveries are the same. Basically what happens is when the switch is cold, the
gap of the switch contacts becomes wider causing an open circuit, and as it heats up a little, the contacts expand(metal expands when hot and contracts when cold) narrowing the gap a bit more allowing slightly more normal function of the wipers.
This does not explain the rear wiper issue, though. I have not seen that rear wiper issue, but i suspect that there could be an
issue with the rear wiper motor park switch.

I live in the cold in Washington State and that completely makes sense what you just said. Most of the time nothing happens. Until the car warms up. Then it starts to work slowly.... a mild nuisance but livable.
