Can the tranmission fluid be changed on my Freeland SE 2002? Can I do it myself or do I have to have a stealership rip me off? Also, seems like it shifts out of 1st/2nd a little rougher than other SUV's. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Wow!! I didn't know it was so hard I can't get a response. I'm selling this piece of crap. I have been told they are known for bad transmissions and they don't deserve the land rover name even on them. Plus, I can't get a simple reply in any forum.[/align]

 

I posted 2 days ago and for some reason it didn't stick.
The only place you can buy ATF for your vehicle is at the dealers sice Rover uses a completely different tranny fluid for yours.

 

I keep getting better news by the day. It's at the dealers now and this guy claims Freelanders don't deserve the green logo. Did I buy a lemon?

 

The dealer is just mouthing off because at a dealer (generally), you're either a buyer or you're not. Even if you are coming in there two days after purchasing your ride, they really don't want to see you unless it is going to equal some kind of commission.FordRoverMotorCO quit making yourseries in 2005, and upgraded it and rebranded it LR2 in 2006, so your truck is ancient history to those guys.

You're going to have a hard time finding inexpensive parts, I imagine, so you might want to stay on top of your maintenance.
