Default MPG what can I expect?

Hi I have just bought a 2004 1.8 Freelander SE, and was wondering what can I expect to get on a full tank of fuel????

Default RE: MPG what can I expect?

I have a 1.8 ES (5-door) 2001 and since I bought the car, the best fuel consumption I've achieved is 31.8 mpg (UK gallons!). Best distance on a full tank of petrol has been 370 to 380 miles, BUT I reckon I was running of fumes at the latter stages and it must have been one of those times, I'd filled the tank to almost overflowing.

Typically I'm refilling when I've done about 320 - 330 miles. Fuel warning light has come on for me with over 50 miles still possible - although I was caught short once only about 30 miles after the light came on. (I KNOW it's not a good idea to run until you run out of fuel - BUT, I wanted to KNOW what was possible ! )

Average fuel consumption for me works out at about 26.4 mpg. Most of my driving is home to work, sometimes through the city, other times on single track roads.

Must say I didn't really expect much more than this when I bought the vehicle and I plan to replace it within the next 6 months - most likely a Freelander again, but probably Diesel, Automatic, since I already burnt the clutch out whilst offroad !
