Default No Heat please help!

I bought my Freelanderlast summer and I never used the heater because it was summer. Now it is winter and I need heat, however I can't get any heat to come out of the vents. I had the tranny rebuilt last month, and they said that somehow the coolant and the tranny fluid have mixed causing the tranny failure, don't know for sure, but that's what they said.

That being said, I have to wait about 3-5 minutesof idling for the engine to warm up (middle of the temp guage), right now it is about 30*F. ThenonceI turn on theheater, I get luke warm air that is maybe 40*-50*F. Not nearly as warm as any other car I have had. Once I start driving it on the highway the temp guage will bottom out, and I lose all my "heat."

I have checked the oil dipstick, and there is no discoloration that I can see. Is it a thermostat, header gasket, etc,? Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks
Tony

Default RE: No Heat please help!

i have the same problem with her 1.8 99 freelander the heating worked upto the head gasket going, now the tempature gauge only moves when stuck in traffic once she puts the blowers on then the gauge drops, she can drive 50miles and the gauge not move.
so im intrested in what the problem is,i thought it could be the anti freeze is cooling the engine to much but this inpractical.good luck if i resolve the issue ill let you know
