looking down with hood opened right between battery and engine (trans area) you'll see a small black rubber plug pull that out and fill her up!!!

Make sure if you add or replace ATF in a Freelander that you use only the one fluid that is reocmmended by Rover, any other ATF's can kill the tranny.

Disco Mike,

Would you know what ATF is used in the 02' Freelander and recommended by LandRover? (specifications) or a link that would have this info.
Is there no other compatible ATF that can be used with the same specification, i.e. syntheticATF or Dextron III?!?

Blue M.

You have to buy the ATF from Rover. I have spoken with a shop on this issue and they have seen 2 trannys that died from using the wrong fluid, what a bummer.
