1995 Range Rover 4.0
I am looking at purchasing a 1995 Range Rover 4.0. I did all my research and I know about all the occuring problems with these SUV but am not worried about that too much as this truck has been taken care of.
Anyways I had the truck for a 24 hours test drive, which was awesome everything was running really smooth.. But the one thing I have noticed is that the compressor was kinda noisy and was turning on quite often is that normal???
Also right when I start the ABS would show on the dash for abput 2 minutes and than dissapear.
The before me shorted out the computer by putting the wrong alternator but had it replaced and everything seems to be working.
The rearmirrror is leaking, and the passenger window makes noise when it rolls all the wayup.
Any help would be greatly appericiated.. Things I should loook for?
The truck has 197 000 KM.

Hi - I bought my 95 P38 about a yr ago. This is the fouth Range rover i have owned. I have a had a ton of things to do to it but it is worth every hour and penny!!!!!
The rear mirror for instance I had the same problem and found one on e-bay for $50 There are quite a few series 2's being pulled apart for parts I have noticed. The price of new parts are pretty high.
You will need a code reader (leave it in the glove compartment) and a CD of the workshop manual.
I got a cheap 2nd hand laptop for my garage just to run the disc - (its about a 1000 pages - PDF)
The forums are a great support system, I have contacted owners of Range Rovers around the Globe, some of them are 6-800 miles from their closest dealers. They have no option but get on their satelite connection and use the network!!
If you can read and use the computer, have some good mechanical instincts, It will all make sense.
A lot of the work you will be able to do yourself, mine has only driven past the dealer like introducing the Gin to the Vermouth .
Don't be intimidated, you will be working on it weekly. But It is the ultimate!!!
All for now
Good Luck
