Default '95 RR 4.0SE new fuel pump and sending unit

I have replaced the fuel sending unit and the fuel pump in the last three months. Rover doesn't start. Could I be looking in the wrong place? When it does start it runs great. Doesn't seem like FP or Send Unit is bad. I was getting main fail lights such as Airbag failure and other things. could I be having electrical problems? If the battery is weak will the Rover show failure lights when it is cranking? Almost seems like electrical because it the engine just cut out a couple of times. Had it towed to the mechanic today. Anyone have any guesses or special insights?
THANKS!!!

If the battery is weak, it can cause all sorts of interesting problems. Replace it if in doubt and make sure the connections are tight. The airbag light being on is pretty standard. Mine is on too. How about the fuel pump relay? Why was the fuel pump replaced? The sending unit shouldn't have anything to do with how it runs. If your mechanic doesn't work on Land Rovers for a living, then you might be better off learning to fix it youself or finding a different mechanic. I have noticed that most mechanics don't have a clue when it comes to Land Rovers, especially the p38. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Even our "rover" shop here doesn't know that much about them. I have found a new jaguar mechanic that worked for land rover, we'll see how he goes.

Since the fuel pump and sender have been replaced, I would verify you are getting spark and the injectors are indeed working. If you are not getting fuel or spark, look into replacing your crank sensor. It could also be a fuse that is blown/partially blown. Handsomrob's rover had a hairline crack in the fuse that caused an inter mitten fuel pump issue. It could also be a becm issue as you said there are many failure lights. You will see the abs light along with check engine, oil pressure light, and srs light until the rover actually starts. They will then disappear. Are there any faults displaying in the message center?

When I fill up my tank the Rover only reads at 1/2 full. From what I understand this is a fuel pump issue? I'm driving a 92' with 130k.

That sounds more like a gauge issue, or maybe a sending unit issue. Also, being that we are dealing with a Land Rover, it could simply be a bad electrical connection. It is also possible on that particular model, that the sending unit is somehow built into the fuel pump. Don't know about that.

Your float is probably stuck.
