97 RR Driver Heated Seat Failure
The driver side seat heater has never worked on my 97 Range Rover 4.6 HSE. I spent some time yesterday checking some wires to try to identify where the problem might be using a shop manual. The input signal from the dash switch appears to be a ground, because when I used a tester light to try to see if was getting power to the BeCM I hear a clicking noise inside the BeCM. This appears to be working like the passenger warmer does (which works). When I check the power on the output wire that goes to the seat, I get nothing (as opposed to the passenger side which has power when activated). Am I to assume then that there's something wrong inside the BeCM? If not, what else could it be? I'm not all that enthusiastic about pulling the seat to check the circuit there, but I will if I have to. Thanks for your time.
The easiest way to check for a fault is to unplug the seat heater and check it for resistance ,if its not working you will find the pad has gone open circuit, just put a meter across the two pins to check this, the becm is an earth path allowing current to flow .You could always compare the readings with the god one at the other side, hope this helps Paul.
