Default 98 rover randomly doesn't start for hours

Have good power all the way too the starter silinoid everytime. I have limited it down (I think) to being either a bad ground on the starter silinoid or a bad silinoid itself. If the silinoid was bad would it work for a week or better then just all the sudden not work? Then 6-18 hours later suddenly decide to start without changing a thing? I have searched forum after forum and engine after engine can't find anything like my situation. I have checked wires, fuses, battery, and all everytime it does this and everytime I still have juice to the silinoid and the relay clicks like its transfering power...any ideas?

It would be helpful to know what model and year you have.

Mine has done this, so far only twice (thankfully). If you are going to start replacing stuff, start with the cheapest part . I think it is either a bad ground, or a solenoid going out.

these starters very rarley go out... i would start by disconecting the main power to the starter, and installing a 'star' washer on the stud, then see what happens. i couldnt count the number of rovers ive fixed no starts on with nothing more then a 10 cent washer
