1996 land rover discovery doesn't start
A couple weeks ago I started up my Discovery and the engine sputtered then died. I tried to start it again and after about the third attempt I got it running but the engine felt like it was missing. I parked it then later that day tried to start it again where the engine would turn over but that was about it. I wasn't sure as to the problem and decided to check the gas by removing the rubber intake hose and spraying some carb. cleaner. It started right up for a short time but then died. I figured it was something to do with the gas and talked to some friends who thought it could be either a relay or the fuel pump. Can someone please help and tell me how to check whether it's a faulty fuel pump, or relay and if it's a relay which one is it, or could it be something else?
Hi Tom and thanks for your response. I was not bale to get someone to listen but what I did was turn on the ignition and disconnect then reconnect the plug wire to the pump under the back floor panel. I didn't hear anything click or noise from the pump.
