Default 99RR won't start after stopping in Drive ...

'99 RR 4.0 Gems with 190k miles.
Wife drove it, got home, switched off key while car still in Drive, took key out, then this morning I got in and - no start! No noise at all except a small switch sound under passenger seat computer. Otherwise nothing. Dash lights up. Shifter stuck in Park now - mostly - for no reason I can find it sometimes shifts through all gears. But still no start! Disconnected battery, letting it sit. Any ideas? Appreciated in advance,
Kevin in Minneapolis.

Thanks.

All fixed now. Apparently, when car is switched off in Drive, the system overnight will drain the battery, hence no start. Easy as that. Thanks. KO.

I thought there was an interlock that prevented the key turning except when shifter in park or N.

Indeed there is, or should be, but (A) it's British, and (B) it's got 190k miles, so I assume that feature is just worn out. Anyway, all better now. Thanks. KO>
